Author Guidelines

Instructions for submitting manuscripts:

- Complete articles must be sent directly through the website.

- Authors must make sure that the article complies with the "template for articles with authors" and "template for articles without authors" upon submission.

- It is necessary, in the submission process, to send the file in word format in both versions (with the name of the authors and without the name of the authors). It is also necessary, at the time of submission, to send the documents below, all in PDF and signed by all authors of the article:

1 - Copyright transfer term.

2 - Term of disclosure of potential conflict of interest

3 - Authors’ contribution declaration.

Double submission, Plagiarism and publishing ethics:

Articles submitted to FIEP BULLETIN will be considered for publication only on the condition that they have not been published or are not in the process of being evaluated for publication in another journal, whether in full or in part, as well as not sharing plagiarism as recommended by the Ethics Publication Committee. (https://publicationethics.org/).

 

Conflict of interests:

Any potential conflict of interest related to the submitted article must be explained, that is, situations that could inappropriately influence the development or conclusions of the article must be mentioned.

 

Copyright:

All published statements are the sole responsibility of the authors. However, authors agree that all publication material becomes the property of the journal, which reserves the copyright. Therefore, no material published in FIEP BULLETIN may be sold without written permission from the periodical. All authors of articles submitted to FIEP BULLETIN must sign the Copyright Transfer Term, which will come into force from the date of acceptance of the article.

 

Research Ethics Committee:

Works that report results carried out in human beings must present in the body of the article the respective approval number from the Institution's Research Ethics Committee, in accordance with Resolution of the National Health Council Nº. 466 of December 12, 2012.

 

Peer Review:

All scientific articles submitted will be evaluated by at least two reviewers (in the double-blind mode) with experience and professional competence in the respective area of ​​work and who will issue a reasoned opinion, which will be used by the editors to decide on acceptance. The criteria for evaluation include: originality, contribution to the body of knowledge in the area, methodological adequacy, clarity and timeliness. Articles accepted for publication may undergo to editorial revisions to facilitate clarity and understanding, without changing their content.

 

Way of Structuring the Article

Files must be sent in compliance with the rules below and in accordance with the TEMPLATE.

  1. The title of the article must be in bold (not to exceed 10 words), with capital letters and left justified. On the next line, include the full name of the author(s) and supervisor(s) in capital letters, aligned to the right. In the line below, insert the name of the Institution, city, state, country.
  2. The file must be sent in the “Microsoft Word” program, Arial 11 font, with 1.5 spacing, between lines, justified and page configuration Top: 2.54 cm, Bottom: 2.54 cm, Right Margin: 2.54 cm and Left Margin: 2.54 cm. Article sent in PDF will not be accepted.
  3. Complete article must have 12 to 13 pages (including summaries) excluding references, in English, Spanish or Portuguese. Graphs, figures, tables, photos must be included directly in the text and with a quality of 300 DPI (JPEG format).
  4. The manuscript must have the following structure as follows:

4.1. Title;

4.2. Name of author(s);

4.3. Membership;

4.4. Summaries in single and justified space (minimum of 150 words and maximum of 250 words) in the languages: English, French, Spanish and Portuguese (following this order), with their respective keywords (limit of 5 separated by commas for each language) according to Health Sciences Descriptors – DECs (http://decs.bvs.br);

4.5. Introduction (with respective objective);

4.6. Methodology;

4.7. Results;

4.8. Discussions;

4.9. Conclusions;

4.10. Bibliographic references.

 

Regarding Bibliographic References:

Bibliographic References must be limited to thirty (30) and contain all the data necessary to identify the articles/papers, arranged in alphabetical order, according to APA standards. To distinguish different articles/papers by the same author, chronological order will be taken into account, according to the year of publication. If in the same year there is more than one work by the same author(s), add a letter to the year (Ex. 1999a; 1999b). In the list of References, each referenced work must also be separated from the next by double space and presented in alphabetical order, not numbered.

After the references, the following data from the authors must be included, starting with the main one, for possible publication in the Journal: 1. Complete address (only for the main one), 2. Telephone and 3. E-mail.

 

Types of Citations in APA Standards

There are several types of citations in the APA Standards, each with its own particularities. From direct quotes to quotes from online materials, it is essential to understand when and how to use them.

Direct Citations in APA Standards

Direct quotes play a key role in strengthening arguments by providing concrete evidence.

When incorporating direct quotes, be sure to follow the punctuation and formatting rules defined by the APA Standards.

Short Direct Citation in APA Standards

Short quotes, less than 40 words, are considered short direct quotes. These must be included in the body of the text, in quotation marks, with due reference to the author and year of publication.

Long Direct Citation in APA Standards

For long direct quotations, with 40 words or more, it is necessary to create a separate block, indenting the left margin. This improves readability and highlights the quote within the text.

Indirect Citation in APA Standards

Indirect citation involves paraphrasing the original content. In doing so, it is vital to preserve the essence of the argument while remaining faithful to the original author's ideas.

Citation of Citation in APA Rules

When citing a source that has been cited by another, it is crucial to locate and cite the original source whenever possible. This ensures the accuracy of the information presented.

We have separated some examples of citations in APA standards below so that you can adapt your academic work.

  • In-text citation: It is essential in any written work to present an original contribution and include appropriate citations, and include appropriate citations from the other authors. The citation method used by the APA is the author's surname, followed by the year of publication of the document in parentheses. They may appear in the text in narrative format or in parentheses. Citation in parentheses: Provide the author and publication date in parentheses, separated by a comma and or “&”.

It is important to note that the APA standard is generally used only for citation and reference, in addition to page formatting. The other elements of the text follow the same ABNT standard, which in Brazil you may be more familiar with.

 

Note: Illustrations and tables, with their respective captions, must be inserted in the body of the text, in the case of illustrations, in files with JPEG extension, in CMYK mode for color and grayscale mode (shades of gray) for B&W, with resolution 300dpi.

  • The contribution is original and unpublished, and is not being evaluated for publication by another journal; otherwise, it must be justified in "Comments to the editor".
  • URLs for references is provided where possible.
  • In case of submission to a section with peer review (eg articles), the instructions available in Ensuring blind peer Ensuring blind peer review were followed.
  • I am aware that, in addition to the article in DOCX format (version with names and version without names), I must also send at the time of submission the Copyright Transfer Term, the Potential Conflict of Interest Disclosure Term, the Authors' contribution declaration and proof of payment of the Article Submission Fee in the amount of R$ 240.00. Payment must be made through PIX in favor of the FIEP Office in Brazil – Key is CNPJ 09.688.116/0001-30.   • The text is spaced 1.5; uses an 11-point font; employs italics instead of underlining (except in URL addresses); Figures and tables are inserted in the text, not at the end of the document in the form of attachments.
